BeautyCon TX Review, Exclusive Haul, Etc. | 2015

BEAUTYCON TX! This was my first time ever in Texas, at least actually being there and not driving through. First things first, I know most of you are here for the list that was in the GIGANTIC haul bag...

THAT HAUL BAG THOUGH.

These items are a mix of items given from BeautyCon TX to panelists only, as well as the StyleHaul event that I attended the night before. You guys can check out the video above showing what each looks like. For some, I have highlighted in red that I plan to look further into, and do future reviews on, so keep a look out! I have also highlighted in blue what I have used previously (so I have a valid and solid opinion on the product), and already recommend!
  • Gigantic "cowboy themed" bag
  • Ego travel size hair dryer and straightener
  • Genius Collection (Skin care)
  • Vita Liberata Luxury Tan & Trystal Minerals
    • Trystal minerals was tried out one time at the show itself, and from first impression, it would look nice over someone with a tan who just wants a little tiny extra shimmer/bronze
  • Philosophy Miracle Worker (anti-anging moisturizer) & Amazing Grace
  • Berones Neumann Candle in Czar
  • Dress, shoe, and purse bag
  • Laura Geller "Love Me" Dew Lip Crayon & "Spackle"
    • First impression without wearing it all day, the lip crayons are all smooth and pigmented. I have not tried it on my lips all day long though, so I cannot give an opinion on how well it wears for a long period of time as of right now
  • Peter Thomas Roth Firm Peeling Gel
  • Mally Lipgloss & Starshine Eyeliner
  • Tarte Light Camera Lashes & Skin Rejuvenating Self Tanner
    • I definitely will be trying out their self tanner, I was very impressed with my first impression of it, and I am a tough one to impress.
  • Eva NYC Clean it up Shampoo
  • Smile Actives Original Pen
  • NYX Cosmetics Colored Mascara(s), White Liquid Eyeliner, High Voltage Lipstick, Intense Butter Gloss
  • Formula X Nail Polishes
  • Algenist Concentrated Reconstructing Serum
  • Julep Nail Treatment (pink)
    • This is the color that is similar to what is on my nails in the video
  • Style Haul Iphone 6 phone cover (only available to those at the party)
  • Salon Perfect Demi-Whispy Faux Lashes
  • Wen Cucumber Aloe Sample
  • American Apparel Shoe Laces
  • Shea Moisture Super Fruit Body Complex Body Lotion (jeez, long name)
  • Hydrate and Repair Argan Oil of Morocco Miracle in Shower Oil

Review of BeautyCon

Lex Rating 3.0 out of 5.0 stars

As I said earlier, this was my first time in TX where I could actually stop and look around! While it was a quick in and out trip for me, oh, speaking of in and out, TEXAS HAS IN-N-OUT BURGER! Awwwyeah. I actually didn't get a chance to grab any, which made me pretty sad, but there is always next time. I am a huge in-n-out fan. Who can't be? Animal fries... mmmm.

There was a huge, gigantic mall only 15 minutes away from the location of Beautycon, so that was a plus outside of a review of the show itself. If you came in a day early, or stayed a day after, you could definitely spend an entire day in the mall there without a problem. Once again, I only had about 30 minutes there, but would take a trip back to Texas just to wander around that mall for a day! Hey, I think it would be worth it if the price is right for airfare (coming from Chicago!)

To put BeautyCon's review for Texas in the easiest way possible, I am literally going to make a pro and con list. This is my personal opinion, and is not meant in any way to bash or harm BeautyCon with any constructive criticism I may list below.

PROS

  • Large venue: There was definitely enough room for everyone to fit, wander comfortably, and not feel like everyone was pushing through one another. If you needed a second to breathe, you don't have to worry about someone running you over, unless there is a herd of peeps chasing after their favorite social media "star." Then, you might want to watch your toes!
  • Two LARGE stages for panels: This was my first panel that I was ever on at a show, and at no point did I feel like I was going to fall off the stage. That is a plus!
  • Well lit stages, panels, and organized announcements. Each panel had a large projector above it, showing you which panel was up next, who was in it, what time, and what it was going to be about. For those who didn't have a schedule from online, I would say this was helpful for people to wander back and forth and know exactly what is going on at what stage and when without having to remember everything.
  • NO SNOBS! The crowd filling Beautycon TX had a GREAT vibe. While this obviously isn't something that BeautyCon can control, I did want to make a statement about the crowd that it was awesome to see a bunch of people waiting to meet their favorite internet stars, with huge smiles on their faces, and no one judging one another like some other shows have going on (yikes, no one likes to feel uncomfortable or unwanted)
  • "YouTuber" GALORE! BeautyCon had plenty of people there from social media, and if you are there to meet people, that is the place to be!! I also feel the need to mention that YouTubers are NOT welcome at all conventions like they used to be, and I AM VERY GLAD BeautyCon loves and accepts us as entrepreneurs, makeup artists, beauty/fashion enthusiasts, and role models to other generations. Its all about fun.
  • On the panelist and special guest side of things, we were taken care of! Security was VERY helpful for us, BeautyCon was accommodating, and we also had a SWEET QVC lounge in the back! I swear, I had the coolest security guard.

CONS

  • Not enough booths. That is the main complaint I would have about BeautyCon TX. I was there as a guest speaker, but I know if I were there as a ticket buyer, I would be disappointed with the amount of booths there. While they did have a couple of good booths, its not like a regular convention that you would think of. I know I also saw on social media that people were complaining BeautyCon TX treated TX bad by not having enough booths, and it wasn't as big as LA and NY. I have never been to NY BeautyCon, but I have been to LA, and I can verify that Texas was not treated any differently, and that is just how BeautyCon is as of right now.
  • While the space was large, in my opinion, I feel like the space may have been a LITTLE TOO large. Visually, the convention appeared a lot smaller being in such a large space. Hey, its better than being crammed and hot though, so that is kind of a pro/con.
Would I attend this convention again? Probably. It's a little different for me, because I am also there to reach out to people, and meet my Lexbots!

Overall, I would give this convention three stars based on two things. The convention is great to meet people, but lacking in booths and things to buy.

YOU GUYS THOUGH!

I am always so happy to meet you guys!!! You are the reason that I am where I am today, and am able to reach out to so many of you and enjoy what I do everyday of my life. I love meeting each and every single one of you, even if I am meeting and greeting until I lose my voice (which is usually what happens!) You guys always get to watch me and learn about me, and when it comes time for meet and greets, its MY TURN. Mwahaha!!

My First Video (Throwback) | Written 2015

I remember this exact day of uploading and creating this video. I actually started this video pretty late at night. Funny thing is, what you guys DO NOT see in the video are lamps balancing on my bed, towels down all over my bed so I don't get makeup on my sheets (inevitable), my messy finger printed laptop, full of body paint that WAS NOT water based easy to come off paint (ahem), and the general madness that was actually this video.

Nyx Face Awards | 2013

Eek! It has been FOREVER since I last wrote on my blog. Things have been incredibly hectic for the past couple of months now (In a good way, of course!). My fingers are super sore from being poked at the immediate care yesterday ( boo... high blood sugars... ) but I know that I am going to end up typing up a storm right now anyways! As all of you know who follow me on  Facebook , my  YouTube Channel  has been entered in a competition called the  Nyx Face Awards ! I had submitted my YouTube channel to the competition in hopes to make it into the top 30, and I did! I was in complete shock, and extreme excitement! A follower had messaged me informing me about the competition (Good ol' Kristi Jo!). I am so glad that I checked out the link, and that she was so kind as to let me know it was going on! Anyways. The perks of this competition: EVERYTHING. The first place winner will receive $25,000 and a beautiful glass trophy! Of course, there are other incredible perk...

Popsicle Zombie | 2014

Back in 2014 , and still today, I was and am still pretty proud of the shading within this character. This was the first time I successfully to my satisfaction created shading within my cheek (specifically the left-hand side looking at the photo straight on). This was a part of a very small spread out series on my channel that I was calling popsicle zombies at the time. I loved the way they turned out, and I loved making them different colors! This series was also one that another social media influencer took advantage of, which was kind of a bummer. At the time, I thought they just enjoyed my work! ... until they stopped mentioning they even know me. It ended up being a life lesson, people aren't always so nice.  Of course, I always encourage people to have their hand at painting :) That is what I make my tutorials for! There is a difference between recreating and learning, and recreating to steal. It's what it's. It doesn't make my zombie any less pink, or my h...
